MIKE HORN'S PAST EXPEDITIONS

Extreme Beginnings

Mike Horn's career, or life, as an extreme explorer began when he arrived in Switzerland in 1990 and he developed a love for both mountain and watersports. Here Mike quickly discovered the pleasures of climbing and skiing and also learnt the art of the hydrospeed - an innovative mode of water transport.

Having mastered its use quickly he was later invited by an Italian company 'Sector No-Limits' to make a hydrospeed film. Shortly after this Mike was asked to become a member of the 'Sector No-Limits Sports Team' and was encouraged to do yearly expeditions that in turn would be used for publicity.

Mike got the bug! He did various exploits throughout Europe, from the record descent of a 22m waterfall with a hydrospeed and VTT extreme.

Passionate about hydrospeed Mike later decided to descend the Mont Blanc glacier to the French Riviera and shortly after used a purpose-built hydrospeed made of carbon kevlar and kitted with compartments for the storage of food and equipment, for his first expedition of long duration across the South America continent.

One thing lead to another and exploration soon became Mike Horn's life. He continually craves for new discoveries and to challenge myself within nature and it's elements.

"I would rather try and fail than fail to try." Mike Horn

"If a day goes by and I don't learn anything, I consider it as a waste of a day." Mike Horn
