DO I HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

Basically, we’re looking for young, motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and active self-starters to join our Young Explorers team who share our vision of helping to make a difference in our world. And we provide the most exciting and stimulating surroundings possible – free of charge!

SO CAN ANYONE APPLY?

Absolutely. If you’re between the ages of 15 and 20 years old during the online application period window (i.e. you were born between December 16, 1990 and March 04, 1997 for the AFRICA Expedition application), you could be a part of a truly awesome life-changing experience: One which you’ll never forget and will change your life and that of our planet for the better.'

BUT SURELY THERE’S MORE TO IT?

Of course - there has to be – to make sure everything runs smoothly and we know you’re up to it. So you’ll need to fill out the simple downloadable application form below and make sure you supply us with all the info we need to consider you - and hopefully invite you to join our Selection Camp

Also, you must:

  • be between the ages of 15 and 20 during the online application period window (Magnetic North Pole Expedition concession for 17-22 years of age),
  • be able to communicate in English,
  • have a valid passport (we will help with travel visas),
  • complete the application form in English.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Read the instruction on the Online Application section, then sit back, take some time and think about the questions and the issues that are close to your heart - and once you're happy with your answers, complete the online application.

QUICK HINTS & TIPS TO APPLY

  1. Join the Mike Horn Community at pangaea-yep.com, create your own profile, upload a photograph and create a simple video* about how you envision yourself participating in the Young Explorers Programme. Because the more we know about you the easier it is for us to select you. Here you can also chat to previous Young Explorers about their experiences. You may also upload you video on your facebook or youtube community platforms. Remember to send us your video URL with your application !
  2. Take note of the questions you have to answer on the online application and think carefully about your answers. We want to see that you are passionate about the world, that you have a sense of adventure and that you are ready to act and be a part of the Pangaea Expedition.
  3. Remember, there is no ‘typical’ Young Explorer. We want to know what skills, abilities and stories YOU have. And don’t forget to tell us about an instrument you might play, whether you have a funny talent, or if you are passionate about something? We want to know ALL about you and how you can contribute to the Pangaea Expedition.
  4. Communication skills are very important to us, so show us what you are capable of via your application form and community profile.
  5. Get others involved: show us your family, friends or school supporting your application.

 

*Tell us your ideas about how you can create awareness amongst your peers, schoolmates, friends and family. Express yourself by explaining solutions and suggestions to our environmental problems.

 

THE SELECTION PROCESS

  • Step 1: Once the application period is closed, the Mike Horn team reviews the applications and chooses a maximum of 16 potential Young Explorers to attend a Young Explorers Selection Camp in Chateau-d’Oex, Switzerland, at the Mike Horn Expedition Centre.
  • Step 2: The selected candidates will be invited to Switzerland to the Mike Horn Expedition center, where they will undergo a 10 day selection camp which entails theoretical, physical and educational outdoor activities.
  • Step 3: At the end of the Selection Camp a maximum of 8 Young Explorers will be chosen to join Mike Horn on a Young Explorers Expedition to explore the natural beauty of the world and learn more about preserving its magnificence!
