That we, the youth, can really do it. If we all work together for one goal we can reach it. We can make this world a better place to live.
2. What will change in your life after this experience?
I will look at things differently. I now have a lot of contacts through this expedition, and I feel that lots of doors have opened for me, and I really want to use them. I now have family around the whole world, and great people who support me. This gives me the trust and power to contribute a large part to changing something.
3. The best part of this adventure was …
Diving on the tropical coral reefs in different spots. It was fantastic to experience this amazing biodiversity and see the different conditions the reefs are in, as well as that the Marine Protected Areas are really working. This gives me hope and encourages me even more to study and then hopefully get a job in this field, to contribute more to the protection of coral reefs.
4. The worst was …
The day we missed our boat to Mulu and had to go to immigration, because then we waited all day long and finally got to this crap hotel and I cut my finger in the toilet – which was the worst thing!
5. What will you miss most when you leave?
The people. We had such a great time, and even if there was nothing to do, we rarely got bored because we always had something to discuss about projects or other things. I got to know these people better in three weeks than a lot of my classmates in six years, because I can share my passion with them!
6. What did you learn from …
- Kerstin – to talk to people with emotion and show them how you feel.
- Eugénie – to always be in a good mood.
- Daniel K – to push your limits hard (especially on the raid in the selection camp).
- Dongkyun – a lot about South Korean culture, because I didn’t know anything about it before.
- Rodrigo – to motivate people and be a good team.
- Simon – about snakes, geckoes and animals in the zoo.
- Garrett – how a 15-year-old boy can be such an influence. He is so mature compared to other people his age – I can learn a lot from him.
- Daniel V – about sailing, the boat, and the team, plus the two countries he lives in.
7. As a Pangaea ambassador, I would like to …
Motivate people to participate in this project. I want to create projects all over the world, and in so doing conserve our planet.
8. What is your life philosophy?
Live your life fully, don’t waste your days.
9. The most useful thing I brought with me on expedition was …
My swimsuit.
10. This is what made me laugh the most …
When we wanted to go to the orang-utan doctor and the taxi took us to a vet!
11. This is what got me through the expedition:
Kaptein song!
12. The five words that describe me are …
Passionate, adventurous, hard-working, fun-loving, team-player.
