Once you’re chosen as a potential Young Explorer, you’re invited to join an exclusive YEP Selection Camp to prepare and evaluate you for a possible YEP Expedition. On arrival at the airport, you’ll be welcomed by the Mike Horn Team and driven to the camp at Chateau-d’Oex, set in the stunning Swiss Mountains.

The Selection Camp is exactly what the name says. So throughout your time spent there, you’ll take part in a wide and exciting variety of both physical and mental activities (yup – you’ll be put to the test!).

Each Selection Camp in Switzerland includes informative and intensive courses on subjects that will equip you with the skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of the YEP Expedition - and also to help you communicate your experience with your peers around the world. These courses include Technology, Environmental, Physical, Medical and Communication skills.

Fast-facts about the Young Explorers Selection Camps

How long?	10 Days
Where?	Mike Horn Expedition Centre, Chateau-d’Oex, Switzerland
Accommodation?	Provided by the Mike Horn Team in Hotel Du Ville, Chateau-d’Oex
Costs?	All costs for the Young Explorers Programme are covered by The Pangaea Expedition.
Evaluation?	Specialists in their fields such as the Mayo Clinic test and evaluate the Physical and Mental Fitness of all the attending candidates. The Mike Horn team also assesses the candidates on a variety of traits such as personality, team working skills and interview skills.
Activities?	These include Survival and First Aid courses, Paragliding, Environmental and Sustainability Education, and Sailing amongst others. At all times, trained Swiss Certified Mountain Guides accompany the Young Explorers to ensure their safety.
