YEP Meeting, Photo and Presentation Event
organised by Elena Kiseleva (Pangaea India Expedition YEP), Maria Baranova (Pangaea Magnetic North Pole Expedition YEP) and Alisa Baranskaya (Pangaea New Zealand Expedition YEP)

Pangaea photographer, Dmitry Sharomov, told us about an opportunity for three of us (Maria, Elena and Alisa) to go to St. Petersburg to paticipate in a student photo cross and give there a speech about the Pangaea expedition as Pangaea ambassadors. The event is organized by Photo-one, a famous St. Petersburg photo center (http://www.foto-one.com/ , the website is only in Russian unfortunately) and consists of two parts: a 4-day photo cross in mid-November and closing ceremony on December 20, 2011. The organizers have offered us to take part in 2 days of the photo cross in November and speak to other participants (hundreds of students from St. Petersburg and other Russian cities) about the Pangaea expedition at the closing conference in December.
November 20, 2011
On Sunday November 20, we will organize the first YEP meeting in Russia. The Act Project will include a clean up project in the Gulf of Finland where the problem of trash is urgent. The address is village Molodezhnoe, http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Молодёжное_(Санкт-Петербург) - sorry, it's only in Russian.
The Act project is supported by local environmental organizations, volunteers and students. Besides, two famous high-circulation newspapers are going to attend and cover this event.
November 21, 2011
On Monday November 21, we plan to meet with organizers of a photo competition to discuss our Pangaea presentation in December at the closing ceremony. Then, we arranged about two presentations on Monday at one of the biggest local schools (2 pm) and at St. Petersburg State University (5 pm).
December 2011
The second trip may take place in December where we will have a presentation at the closing ceremony of the photo competition (most likely on 10th December).
The organizers will provide us 20 minutes before the announcement of the results, so we can tell to participants in a nutshell about Pangaea and show a video. Then, we will have 1-2 hours to talk to those who got interested, show them slideshows from our expeditions and answer questions. As I mentioned before, Dmitry passed us all photos for slideshows, so we can create something eye-catching.
For all these events we contacted and brought into play a lot of people. Because of that we are sure that it could be a great chance to spread the Pangaea message in Russia.
