Seven Young Explorers had a great time promoting Pangaea in Darmstadt.

The “Weitsichtfestival” is a yearly event where extreme adventures, for example Rüdiger Nehberg and Hans Kammerlander show pictures and share their experiences. The presentations are combined with a trade fair with various exhibitors: people who sell fair trade products, cameras and outdoor products, but also people who inform about their social and environmental work. The whole event is a magnet for adventures, curious and sporty people of all ages. 

This year, Young Explorers from Germany used this perfect platform to spread their message and make the project more popular but also to raise awareness for the Pangaea Borneo Project. The big audience was very interested in Pangaea and we enjoyed it to be able to get in touch with them, to show them our passion and enthusiasm.

To see how many people are concerned about our environment and how many people are interested in the Young Explorers Program we created a self-made globe and let everybody sign it. After the two days one can clearly see the contour of the earth continents what from we see that a lot of people care about the changes on our planet.

For some of the YEPs it was the first time they promoted the Young Explorers Program and “old” as well as “new” Young Explorers learned a lot from each other. The seven volunteers got to know each other better, what is the basis for a good cooperation and successful future projects. It was good to see so many motivated people together and get to know to their plans and ideas.

Finally a long but interesting weekend comes to an end. We have promoted not only the project, but also shared our thoughts about the changing of the modern society. Our engagement convinced many people and especially juveniles were impressed. We have learned a lot, got to know interesting parts of each other’s life, were confronted with different views but also saw the work of other organizations. Altogether a successful weekend!
