Himalaya Expedition

Time Period: 19th of June 2010 - 23rd of July 2010
Conditions: Severe High Altitude
Dangers/Threat: Sub-zero temperatures, blizzards, limited oxygen, deep snow, crevasses
After the Young Explorers Expedition to the Himalaya's in June 2010, Mike saw the perfect opportunity to rise to the challenge and attempt to summit a peak over 8'000meters.
After reaching the summit of Gasherbrum I (8068m) and Gasherbrum II (8035m) in August 2007 with Swiss alpinists Jean Troillet, Fred Roux and Olivier Roduit, the team set out to summit Broad Peak. This third Peak they did not succeed but Mike knew that he would one day return - three years later he did!
Familiar to the territory and with a new climbing partner, Kobi Reichen from Lauenen, Switzerland, the two men reached the summit on the 17th of July 2010. It was a happy moment for them. Under extreme conditions, quite unusual for the climbing season, Mike and Kobi were the first to reach the summit of Broad Peak in the 2010 climbing season.
